Tempe Community Action in Tempe, Arizona, announced the groundbreaking of its new permanent facility on Apache Blvd in March. The building will house a 68-bed emergency shelter along with 12 transitional beds. A larger, market-style food pantry and a commercial kitchen will also be part of the facility, providing meals for seniors and shelter residents. The building is designed to serve as a hub for homelessness prevention, economic mobility, and community connection.

The new facility is scheduled to open in 2026, coinciding with TCAA’s 60th anniversary. The project received support from the Arizona Department of Housing, Maricopa County, Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust, The Bruce and Diane Halle Foundation, Thunderbirds Charities, and SRP.
